Reaching the milestone of 85 years is truly remarkable, and at Tabacalera Palma, we wanted to celebrate it with something equally special. As we reflected on how best to express the significance of this event, we decided to turn to our fathers for guidance. My father delved into numerous notes and fragments left by my grandfather, revisiting the tobacco cultivation and processing knowledge passed down through two generations, as well as the cigar-making expertise from one generation. I gained valuable insights from my father—after persuading him with a modest bottle of whiskey.

The outcome of this collaboration is a pair of cigars, wrapped in American seed tobacco, designed to honor such a significant occasion as an 85th birthday.
The blend crafted by my father pays tribute to my grandfather, Don Nanán, who had a deep affection for Connecticut wrappers—almost as much as he had for his nine children. He fused decades of blending techniques, previously untouched, with Dominican seed tobaccos to create a classic Dominican cigar. It features a Corojo binder and a filler blend of Piloto Dominicano and Criollo 98 from our Jacagua and Gurabo farms, delivering the familiar raisin and nutmeg flavors characteristic of Dominican tobacco.
My own creation for this project features a rich, leathery smoke enveloped in a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Inspired by my father’s relentless passion for experimenting with tobacco blends, I chose to blend Dominican and Cuban seed tobaccos. This combination yields a dense, chocolatey smoke with hints of cinnamon, thanks to the Piloto Cubano binder and the Criollo 98 and Corojo fillers sourced from the Potrero and La Canela farms.
